All india Webinar of Book Seller representatives of five states to discuss the impact of Covid -19 on book sales sector

A webinar was organized between various bookseller organization's in five states of Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to discuss what effect the Covid epidemic had on the book sales sector.

The convener of Webinar , Anuj Gupta, told that while the Covid epidemic and lock-down have negatively impacted the economy of the entire country, the publishing industry and book sales sector have also not remained untouched. Opening of schools across the country is uncertain, through online teachers are working hard to teach students.

Due to the situation arising out of lock down and covid-19 infection, most of the parents did not buy books, answer books and stationery or buy only partial and necessary items.

Ashish Dhasmana, president of Meerut Book Seller Association, representing Uttar Pradesh, told that booksellers are preparing for the next academic session from September-October for which booksellers invest with bank limits and other lending instruments. After the examination results, they prepare for the whole year for the sale of one month. After March 22, the results of all schools in Uttar Pradesh were to be declared after the declaration of the results, which could not be done due to lock down. The goods are kept unsold, due to which the booksellers are unable to repay their dues. This has caused severe financial crisis to them and their families.

Meerut Book Seller Association has repeatedly requested from the national and state governments in the month of April and memorandum has been given that arrangements should be made to distribute the books by listing them in the category of essential commodities, but demand of parents, students and vendors Was kept pending due to which there was loss of students' education, while the vendors suffered financial loss.The sale of books of the State Board has come down by 70%.

Pradeep J Vikram, associated with Maharashtra Association, expressed concern over the loss of vendors due to the impact of the Corona epidemic prevailing in Maharashtra.

Representing the state of Delhi, Subhash Sharma said that along with being the capital of the country, Delhi is the largest wholesale bastion of books and merchants from all over the country come to New Sadak, Daryaganj etc. areas of Delhi for books. Due to fear of lokdown and subsequent infection, markets are still deserted and only a small amount of goods is going through transport.

Representing Rajasthan, Ravi Aggarwal said that in cities like Jaipur, fifty per cent of sales have been made but in rural areas there is silence in markets after ten to twenty per cent of sales.

Gujarat representative Nirav Shah told that the Covid epidemic has had a very bad effect in Gujarat as well and millions of books are kept in warehouses today.

In the Webinar, the government demanded that under such adverse circumstances, the government should give immediate interest-free loan to the booksellers of the educational sector as a relief package so that they can prepare for the next academic session.

कोविडच्या पुस्तक विक्री क्षेत्रावरील परिणामावर चर्चा करण्यासाठी पाच राज्यांच्या प्रतिनिधींचे वेबिनार

दिल्ली, गुजरात, राजस्थान, महाराष्ट्र आणि उत्तर प्रदेश या पाच राज्यांमध्ये विविध पुस्तक विक्रेता संघटनांमध्ये पुस्तक विक्री क्षेत्रावरील कोविड साथीच्या परिणामावर परिणाम घडविण्यासाठी चर्चा करण्यासाठी वेबिनार आयोजित करण्यात आले होते.

वेन्नरचे संयोजक अनुज गुप्ता यांनी सांगितले की कोविड साथीच्या रोगाचा आणि लॉक-डाऊनचा संपूर्ण देशाच्या अर्थव्यवस्थेवर नकारात्मक परिणाम झाला आहे, तर प्रकाशन उद्योग आणि पुस्तक विक्री क्षेत्रदेखील अद्याप शिल्लक राहिलेले नाही.

देशभरात शाळा उघडणे अनिश्चित आहे, ऑनलाईन माध्यमातून शिक्षक विद्यार्थ्यांना शिकवण्यासाठी परिश्रम घेत आहेत.

लॉक डाऊन आणि कोविड संसर्गामुळे उद्भवलेल्या परिस्थितीमुळे बर्‍याच पालकांनी पुस्तके, उत्तरांची पुस्तके व स्टेशनरी खरेदी केली नाही किंवा केवळ अर्धवट व आवश्यक वस्तूच खरेदी केल्या नाहीत.

उत्तर प्रदेशचे प्रतिनिधित्व करणारे मेरठ बुक विक्रेते असोसिएशनचे अध्यक्ष आशिष धस्माना यांनी सांगितले की सप्टेंबर-ऑक्टोबर या कालावधीत पुस्तकविक्रेते पुढील शैक्षणिक सत्राची तयारी करीत आहेत ज्यात पुस्तक विक्रेते बँक मर्यादा व इतर कर्ज देणार्‍या साधनांसह गुंतवणूक करतात. परीक्षेच्या निकालानंतर ते एका वर्षाच्या विक्रीसाठी संपूर्ण वर्षाची तयारी करतात. 22 मार्चनंतर उत्तर प्रदेशातील सर्व शाळांचा निकाल जाहीर झाल्यानंतर निकाल जाहीर करण्यात आला होता, जो कुलूपबंदमुळे होऊ शकला नाही.आताही पन्नास टक्के गोदामांमध्येही वस्तू विक्री न करता ठेवल्या आहेत, ज्यामुळे पुस्तक विक्रेते त्यांचे थकबाकी परतफेड करण्यास अक्षम आहेत. यामुळे त्यांच्या आणि त्यांच्या कुटुंबीयांवर गंभीर आर्थिक पेचप्रसंगा निर्माण झाली आहे.

मेरठ बुक विक्रेता असोसिएशनने एप्रिल महिन्यात राष्ट्रीय व राज्य सरकारांकडून वारंवार विनंती केली आहे आणि पुस्तकांना आवश्यक वस्तूंच्या श्रेणीत सूचीबद्ध करुन वितरण करण्याची व्यवस्था करावी लागेल, असे निवेदन देण्यात आले आहे, परंतु पालक, विद्यार्थी आणि विक्रेत्यांची मागणी प्रलंबित ठेवण्यात आले ज्यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांचे शैक्षणिक नुकसान झाले, तर विक्रेत्यांचे आर्थिक नुकसान झाले.

उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य सरकारची शाळा न उघडल्यामुळे राज्य मंडळाच्या पुस्तकांच्या विक्रीत 70% घट झाली आहे.

महाराष्ट्र असोसिएशनशी संबंधित प्रदीप जे विक्रम यांनी महाराष्ट्रात प्रचलित कोरोना साथीच्या परिणामामुळे विक्रेत्यांच्या नुकसानीवर चिंता व्यक्त केली.

दिल्ली राज्याचे प्रतिनिधित्व करीत सुभाष शर्मा म्हणाले की, देशाची राजधानी असण्याबरोबरच दिल्ली हे पुस्तकांचे सर्वात मोठे घाऊक बुरुज आहे आणि देशभरातील व्यापारी पुस्तकांसाठी दिल्लीच्या न्यू रोड, दर्यागंज इत्यादी भागात येतात. खाली होण्याच्या भीतीमुळे आणि त्यानंतरच्या संसर्गाच्या भीतीमुळे, बाजारपेठा अजूनही निर्जन आहेत आणि केवळ काही प्रमाणात माल वाहतुकीतून जात आहे.

राजस्थानचे प्रतिनिधित्व करताना रवि अग्रवाल म्हणाले की, जयपूरसारख्या शहरांमध्ये पन्नास टक्के विक्री झाली आहे पण ग्रामीण भागात दहा ते वीस टक्के विक्रीनंतर बाजारपेठांमध्ये शांतता आहे.

गुजरातचे प्रतिनिधी नीरव शहा यांनी सांगितले की, कोविडच्या साथीने गुजरातमध्येही फार वाईट परिणाम केला आहे आणि आज कोट्यावधी पुस्तके गोदामांमध्ये ठेवली आहेत. वेबनारमध्ये सरकारने अशी मागणी केली की अशा प्रतिकूल परिस्थितीत सरकारने शैक्षणिक क्षेत्रातील पुस्तक विक्रेत्यांना तातडीने व्याजमुक्त कर्ज सवलत म्हणून द्यावे जेणेकरून ते पुढील शैक्षणिक सत्राची तयारी करू शकतील.
